WebQuest


A webQuest is a web-based learning activity. WebQuests  application of basic skills and need to be completed by a learner or as a group. WebQuests direct students to not only research for information but also to analyze, criticize and define the information they find while they work on computer which is something that today’s lerarners very like.WebQuests also help to address the different learning method of each learners.
 In this post I’am going to evaluate a WebQuest page about English learning. I used www.zunal.com The WebQuest that I have chosen for you is The famous Thai food created by Kc Shane for 9-12 grade level of students. It is a post reading task. While I was evaluating this WebQuest, I used a rubric. If you want to see rubric, please check it.
In this webQuest, Learners are supposed to learn about famous Thai food and how to present it to the world.  There are lots of unknown key words such as Tom yum, Tom yum kung, Tom yum goong, Tom yum koong, spicy soup with shrimp, spicy soup with prawn, Thai, Thai food, recipe, ingredient, instruction.

Evaluation

Overall Aesthetics

  • The design of WebQuest is very successful. Color, font and size of text are so good. There are some good pictures and images in the WebQuest which are related to the topic.
  •  WebQuest is very clear and it is easy to follow.
  • There are no mechanical problems in the Webquest.

Introduction

  • The introduction part can be a good reminder of text for learners. It explains thai food clearly so learners understand clearly information that is given.
  • The introduction effectively prepare a lesson the learners. It gives hints what the lesson will be about.
  • Only this part could be better short

  • The WebQuest aims to improve skills of learners. Searching,writting and drawing.The requirements of the task match with the aim.
  • The task is enjoyable and learners need to use their creativity and some skills.

  • All of the steps are clearly and informative. Learners  follow the steps of process easily.
  • Resources provided by teacher are useful but strategies need developing and some of the bullets are weak to understand.
  • The process is wealthy. There are several steps in the task.

  • There is a good connection between the sources and information needed. Practical sources for each subtitle in the task are contained.
  • There is no link in this webquest.

Evaluation
  • The evaluation of learners is scored with a rubric. It is a good rubric but has some lacks. It is not enough to see deficiencies. Some criterias can be added to see.
